About me

FULL NAME Ricardo Caballero Pascual
CURRENT POSITION Game Designer

I have always been fascinated by the stories I read in books, the movies I watched on the old TV in the living room and, especially, the multiple adventures I could live just by turning on the game console. There is something truly captivating in these fictions, whether they are more or less distant from reality, that managed to grab me and define the steps that have led me to where I am now.

In my opinion, the interactive component of video games is the most important to differentiate this medium from others. It is not just about appreciating a fiction from afar, but about being part of it, of its world and its characters. Whoever plays the game does not say “the hero has defeated the final boss and saved everyone”, but “I HAVE defeated the final boss and saved everyone”. This appreciation is not trivial, but the core of my mission as a designer. Not only do I want to provide a rewarding gaming experience for players, but I also want to give them good stories they will remember fondly.

My career started in 2020 after studying the Official Game Design Degree at U-tad (University of Technology, Arts and Design). That same year I also published my first game on Steam along with the other members of Null Reference Studio. It was Burn Me Twice (2020), a narrative-driven game where I held the position of narrative designer and game writer. Burn Me Twice was later recognized with several awards praising its simple but beautiful aesthetics, its complex world full of details and its direct and light-hearted story.

After that, I joined Drakhar Studio S.L. as game designer, where I was able to work on several projects with short development cycles and based on third party IPs, such as PAW Patrol The Movie: Adventure City Calls (2021) or Hotel Transylvania: Scary-Tale Adventures (2022).

Later on, I moved to Madrid (Spain) to join the Level Design and Narrative Design teams of AHEARTFULOFGAMES S.L., where I was able to deepen my knowledge during the development of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed (2024) and Ironskins (pending release).

When I am not designing or working on personal projects, I usually spend my time reading books, playing games or practicing my writing. I am also a big fan of tabletop role-playing games, and I often run games of Vampire: The Masquerade.

I am not afraid to embark on new adventures and I'm constantly looking to broaden my horizons.
